Here is a quick guide to our special audio settings in Zoom.

Please note: You can only do this once you are in the Zoom meeting.

By default Zoom is set up to filter out almost anything it does not recognise as speech. We need a bit more background noise than that so that everyones activity is part of our joint presence when we meet online.

I have tried to set this up so that on a desktop computer you can follow these steps. On mobiles and tablets it will be different.

1. Click the arrow next to the Mute/Sound icon on the bottom left of your screen

Part one of the Audio settings guide for Zoom: Click the small arrow next to the Mute icon to reveal the settings menu

2. Choose ‘Audio settings’ from the menu list that comes up (at the bottom)

Part two of the Audio settings guide for Zoom. Select 'Audio Settings' the last item in the pop-up menu

3. Make choices in the ‘Audio Settings’ dialogue box

Part three of the Audio settings guide for Zoom. Image shows the Audio settings dialogue box and indicates that you should: 1. Deselect the ‘Automatically adjust microphone volume’ tickbox 2. Under 'Audio Profile' you should click on the Zoom optimized audio radio button AND under 'Background noise suppression' click on the LOW radio button
